The Maison Louis Carré was built to plans drawn up by the Finnish architect Alvar Aalto for the French gallery owner and collector Louis Carré. The house was finished in 1959 and the swimming pool in 1963.
This masterpiece of modern architecture, integrating buildings, garden, furnishings and interior layout into a single total work of art, is the only building by Aalto in France and one of his most remarkable private villas.
