Near Paris, in the Espace Rambouillet in the heart of the Forest of Rambouillet in the Yvelines, the Office National des Forêts (the French equivalent of the UK’s Forestry Commission) provides a unique look at woodland wild life. On your walks through the forest there are fascinating encounters and surprises for young and old alike. In the Deer Forest with its numerous interpretation boards visitors can observe stags, hinds, roe deer and aurochs. The Wild Wood gives you the chance to become an explorer creeping up on stags, hinds, roe deer and wild boar. The Eagle Forest takes you on the lookout for birds of prey from the four corners of the world. You will be impressed by the majestic flight of these free-flying birds presented by the Espace Rambouillet’s own falconers. High up in the trees of the Espace Rambouillet you can spend a few minutes or hours, or even the night (in a hammock…) watched over in amused curiosity by stags, hinds and wild boar. Specialised introductory lessons for all, bivouacking, mini-breaks and special packages for groups and others, presented by Aye-Aye Environnement (01 44 52 11 21).
